Independence Message to Private Sector

MINISTER MESSAGE TO Private Sector

Theme: One Nation, One People, Limitless Possibilities

As we celebrate the 33rd anniversary of our independence, the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs takes the opportunity to extend best wishes and congratulations to the private sector and all consumers.  Occasions such as these provide opportunities not only to celebrate historic milestones at the macro/national level but also provide an opportunity to celebrate at the sub-national and micro level the efforts of non-state actors who are key players in driving both economic growth and development.  I take this opportunity therefore to applaud your resilience and commitment in the face of the economic stresses of the global financial crisis as you remained steadfast in your resolve to weather this daunting storm.  At a more fundamental level, this resilience reflects the capacity of our people to survive even in the face of great adversity.

The Ministry of Commerce Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs along with its supporting agencies, the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards, the Office of Private Sector Relations and the National Development Corporation and its affiliate agency, the National Consumer Association remain committed in building an and enlightened consuming public and partnering with the private sector on this journey towards developing a dynamic and competitive trading environment. It is through the strength of this collaboration that we can be one People one Nation with limitless possibilities.

Happy 33rd Independence Anniversary to all.
